There are a few essential steps to keeping young minds occupied and distracted.
1. Engaging Academics - the academic content here will most likely come from your child's school, but it is important for parents to help create structure to their children's work. Helping kids become organized and self sufficient is essential to protecting work hours for adults who suddenly find themselves without adequate daycare.
2. Personal Projects - as kids are likely to finish their academic work more efficiently while home (less transitions, socializing, etc.), helping them focus on an in-depth personal project will help engage them in the afternoon, and give you more work hours as a parent.
3. Creativity/Choice - allow for kids to be creative and make lots of their own choices, as this will help them feel in control and more positive about being self quarantined.
